Reddit Made Its Native Shopify Widely Available

For years, Reddit has been the ad channel Shopify brands kept meaning to test and kept putting off.

The intent was always there. The problem was everything else, and before, Reddit Ads felt more trouble than what they were worth. Setting up Reddit ads as a Shopify merchant used to mean:

  • Manual pixel installation - pasting JavaScript into your theme.liquid file and hoping it fired correctly. Shopify merchants before have to go to their online store, themes, edit code and paste third-party JavaScript directly into the <head> tag of theme.liquid. So if a merchant changes or updates their theme, the code is often wiped out, breaking conversion tracking completely.
  • Unreliable tracking - Reddit's browser-based pixel is vulnerable to ad blockers, iOS privacy restrictions, and Shopify's sandboxed checkout environment which means a significant chunk of your conversions simply went unrecorded
  • No catalog sync - product feeds had to be managed separately, staying in sync with your store's live inventory which was a headache.
  • Blind optimization - because your data was incomplete, your campaigns couldn't optimize properly.

This is why most Shopify brands either skipped Reddit entirely, or ran a small test, then saw underwhelming reported ROAS, and quietly moved budget back to Meta and Google never knowing whether Reddit actually worked or just looked like it didn't.

Now, Reddit finally caught up!

Reddit just recently, Reddit expanded its native Shopify integration globally and it changes the game entirely from it’s ancient way. Reddit native app on Shopify can now:

  1. Setup Reddit Pixel with no code (yey!). No more touching your theme files. This new integration handles pixel deployment automatically the moment you connect your Reddit Ads account to your Shopify store.
  2. Automated catalog syncing. Your product titles, images, descriptions, live pricing, and inventory levels sync to Reddit automatically and stay current. This is what powers Reddit's Dynamic Product Ads showing the right product to the right user at the right moment.
  3. Streamlined account authorization. What used to take a developer and a few hours now takes a few clicks.

The native Shopify integration gives you a cleaner pixel setup but still it’s pixel alone still has a ceiling.

No matter how cleanly installed the Reddit Pixel is, it is still subject to ad blockers, iOS restrictions, and cookie loss. Reddit themselves acknowledge this in their own documentation, which is why they recommend pairing the pixel with Conversions API (CAPI)/server-side tracking.

Server-side tracking sends your conversion events directly from your server to Reddit's servers, bypassing the browser entirely. Making conversions that were previously invisible become visible.

If you are running Meta, Google, and Reddit Ads, you are already covered as Aimerce handles server-side tracking for Reddit alongside Meta, Google, Tiktok, Snapchat, and Taboola giving Shopify merchants a single layer that ensures every conversion signal reaches the ad platform cleanly, regardless of what's happening in the browser. Without worrying about missing events, duplicate counting, attribution gaps caused by iOS or ad blockers.

Ethnotek, a backpack and accessories brand already ran Dynamic Product Ads through the Reddit-Shopify integration and saw a 4x return on ad spend while cutting customer acquisition costs by 40% compared to their benchmark.

That's what happens when you combine a high-intent audience with infrastructure that actually works

If you're running a Shopify store and spending on Meta or Google, Reddit deserves a serious look too.
